I'm so happy to see that you are not Amercain !!!I am proudly South African[ a country in which is manufactured BMW, Audi and Mercedes (apart from Toyota, Nissan, Mazda) which out number most of any other car on the roads there.....toyota may be an exception...]. My first language is English (and Afrikaans) as it was imposed by the government. I have no association with British or American people.
[Personally I believe the British to be no better than a remote state of the USA, depending on who is leading the British at the time...]

That definitely change my point of view.
Let me explain: I HATE SOUTH AFRICAIN !!!

why: Nothing about racism, simply a rugby thing, as my first son is a Kiwi!! you will understand as you are inteligent!!

I've been living in NZ for about 3 years, and definitely don't understand yet why i've leaved the long cloud country!!
Yes and no!! obviously, you're right, but technicaly, the CT has been instored in order to stop old cars (poluant ones) to run!! therefore, any 500000km is regarder as an 'old thing' that needs rest for eternity!!I simply argued the point that while there is a law, there is also technical aspects which cannot be ignored. Any law that allows a ten year old engine with nearly 500 000km to be 'redlined' is in need of review!
Practicaly, any car that really is a pain (poluant or not katalized) HAS TO BE KILLED!! so, sometimes, they simply helps.... This is stupid, but it has some points!!
at the end of the day, you'll have to agree that there is a certain 'logical point' behind the CT.
But in this particular case, it is obvious that the guy has over reacted, and certainly killed the engine on purpose!!
hope this will correct the topic, and stop the 'bad mouth tasting' that pitou and you left!!
Kia ora!
PS: SA is one of the country I wish to visit soon... where do you live exactly??
